When a walk turns into something more special & memorable...

Back in late 2025, I had a beautiful message from a lady called Sophie, with a request to capture an important event - but this wasn't like any other event or session I had really done before... It was a surprise proposal.
The minute she had emailed through, I just knew I wanted to get her booked in and to know more about what she had in mind. I felt so honoured knowing she wanted to book me to document this special life-changing event for her and her now fiancé.

Fast forward to January 2026, the idea was to enjoy a blissful walk, just the two of them, at the wonderful-sight seeing location of Lake Vyrnwy - a place that both Sophie and Olivia had never been to before, but always wanted to visit.
Myself and Sophie thought of the plan to meet discreetly on the dam bridge at the lake, with both her and Olivia stopping every moment to take pictures of the scenery around them, whilst I'm in the background casaully capturing the landscape around us (discreetly capturing them together too) - Highly recommend at this location to send each other your locations on message as Lake Vyrnwy is known for absolutely pants signal, but Sophie spotted me straight away and the plan was going ahead perfectly.
I continued to capture the scenery around me (culling this back took longer mainly because I actually took so many random pictures of the bridge so that it looked like I was a landscape photographer and not there to capture the special moment!)

It was the right moment for the question to be asked - no one else was walking on the bridge, it was just both of them holding hands and walking directly in the middle (the PERFECT shot) so i spotted Sophie pulling her almost fiancé more in the middle and as she was about to get on one knee, a car appeared and started driving right down the middle (FFS!), however I knew I had to start being noticeable here as I wanted to capture every facial expression and movement in that moment... Even when Olivia finally spotted me on the bridge and thought 'there's someone taking pictures of us!'
As the car drove past us, BAM it was show time once again - and Sophie perfectly and smoothly took Olivia back towards and middle and it was like watching a movie in slo-mo....
The closeness of one another, the eye contact, watching Sophie slowly get down on one knee, and seeing how Olivia turns and realises whats happening.

This is it. This was the perfect moment for them, and for me to capture this story for them was making me so joyful - we now have a newly engaged couple!
After witnessing one of the most wonderful proposals, I wanted to take both of them to the bottom of the dam to enjoy the walk and scenery around them, even more (they loved it!)
We shared a lot of laughter and I had the privilege to get to know both of them more throughout the day, I can easily say to these ladies are definitely suited to each other and it was so lovely to be able to capture this love behind the lens.
Once again I am super grateful I got to capture this memorable and loving moment for both Sophie and Olivia, and I'm sending my absolute love and luck to their new chapter between now and when they marry - who knows I may have the honour of capturing their wedding!
